Bush Sports

We all know that sport is good for us, it helps us keep fit, and helps keep mental focus. Can this be said for all sports though? One of those ‘debatable’ sports was introduced on some of the drinks breaks this week. For this specific sport, no fitness is required and you hardly have to break a sweat. Yes we African people can be strange at times, and our traditional sports are no different. This sport, traditionally called ‘bokdrol spoeg’ directly translates into what it is, Antelope poo spitting! Usually done with kudu dung (nobody knows why, maybe something to do with aero-dynamics?) the aim is simple, place the dung in your mouth, and see who can spit it the furthest. Some students being a bit sceptical about this strange game decided not to participate, but most did, so let the games begin! Well let’s just say we don’t have any world record breakers, but at least all the participants enjoyed their new insight into the words: weird and wonderful sports.
