Welcomes and Farewells

Welcome to the GVI Bushwise Field Guides blog. We hope to provide you with continuous updates of all our news and activities at the Bushwise campuses and a little more insight into our courses.
GVI Bushwise Field Guides runs a proffessional Field Guide course in the beautiful Limpopo province of South Africa. Offering a comprehensive one year and six month course, this is an ideal platform for a successful career in the challenging and competitive ‘Big 5’ industry. The aim of the course is to provide a well-rounded and specialised education and the training is specifically intended to provide the vocational skills and qualifications required by employers in South Africa and the wider Southern Africa region. A life-changing course to many of our students.
For now, we bid farewell to our July 2010 group of students, the majority going off to their placement lodges or research bases. It has been a fantastic course, as always, with brilliant sighting throughout. The usual Big 5 and general game seen regularly, as well as some of the more scarce animals, such as the rare and secretive Pangolin (seen over 9 times this course!) and even an Aardvark! With a 100% pass rate on the Level 1 FGASA examination, we have no doubt that the past 6 months have provided our students with all the information and skills they will need to be highly successful guides in the hugely popular ‘Big 5’ industry. What a dream job!
Our new group of students will coming in on the 7th of January 2011, we have a full course with 32 students booked. 16 will be going to the Garonga campus and 16 to the Mahlahla campus. We look forward to meeting them and hope they rest well during this Christmas holiday period so as to be prepared to jump straight into our action packed course!
Until then, Merry Christmas to all! To those going away for this period, safe travels!
