Just in from the field - Garonga!

Three resident elephant bulls come over to the grass patch in front of the farmhouse every evening, to eat the tall “Guinnea grasses” (Panicum maximum) that is growing there. It is as if they are curious about our 15 new students who started their Bushwise course last week. On our first game drive we decided to stay in the Garonga area as the game is plentiful around the campus with many impala’s, warthogs, zebra, giraffe and blue wildebeest all enjoying the fresh lush green grasses and leaves. Suddenly we saw 4 young lions in the distance. There were 3 young males and a female - their sister, all about 2 years old. They were having a great time, rolling over each other, play ambushing each other and grooming. One of the young males came over and crossed the road right in front of our vehicle. This all happened while the sun was setting, throwing gold, pink and purple colours across the sky. We are in Africa living it!
